I apologize for not uploading more art or posting any upcoming events. Currently I am in a summer session class for raku and alternative firings as well as kiln building. Seeing as the class has just started I am creating a new body of work and seeing what surfaces i can obtain and deciding if they are beneficial to my work.
The results i have seen from others in the class as well as mine dont really appeal to me personally but im still looking into these firing methods.
Aside from my current class I feel that i have almost hit my peak. The few things I feel i still need to work on are making my pieces in a more productive manner
After 26 hours f straight glazing i finally finished all my pieces for the howard steam boat art festival! I reverted back to my roots and took another stab at low fire oxidation firing. The glazing process was hell but the results were surprisingly amazing! I had no running glazes, 100% consistent glazes, and several glazes that complimented my work due to their transparency. If you would like to purchase or view my work in person the fair will be at the howard steamboat museum the 21st 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 22nd 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. . If you are interested in purchasing or trading work online just message me im willing to work something out po
Currently I have alot of things coming up and my to do list is overflowing. Im participating in the CHAUTAUQUA festival May 22 and May23 so Im currently preparing work for the event. With my semester at Indiana University Southeast over my access to the facilities are limited. Although I am allowed to continue working I'm supposed to keep it on the down low. This doesn't really work out for me considering the amount of work I produce (Other students walk into room, What are are these plastic bads and bats doing here?). With this said I am reverting back to my roots and will be working with and experimenting with primarily but not limited to l
You might look into the works of Richard DeVore. Also this book [link]
Both emphasize texture informing function. It seems like you're trying to do that in your work, but the glazes are typically overpowering that message.
